Why plant for pollinators?

Small patches add up.

4 min read

Bees, butterflies, moths, flies and hummingbirds pollinate many of the plants we eat and enjoy. Many depend on flowers that are disappearing from yards and roadsides.

What a garden gives them

  • Nectar and pollen from spring to fall
  • Host plants where butterflies lay eggs and caterpillars feed
  • Places to nest and spend the winter
  • A safe stop without pesticides

Every bit helps

You don't need a meadow. A few square feet of native flowers, a border or even containers on a balcony give pollinators food and shelter.
